A place for recent weddings, sessions, Florida locations, photography tips, and a few things I'm currently loving.
I have a Brevard Zoo wedding coming up next year, and I have to admit, I’m really excited about this one.
I haven’t photographed a wedding at the zoo yet, but it’s definitely a venue I’ve been wanting to work at. With multiple event spaces, Florida scenery and the option to incorporate animal experiences into the wedding day, it’s such a unique Space Coast venue.
If you’re considering Brevard Zoo for your wedding, here’s what I’d want couples to know from a photography perspective.
From a photography perspective, Brevard Zoo offers something a little different from a traditional wedding venue.
The zoo has several event spaces, including Nyami Nyami River Lodge, Lion Lookout, Lands of Change and Rainforest Revealed. Each space has a different feel, so your guest count and overall wedding style can help determine which one makes the most sense for your day.
And then there’s the obvious bonus: you’re getting married at a zoo.
That opens up some really fun possibilities for wedding-day photos and guest experiences.
Brevard Zoo offers experiences that can be incorporated into private events, including giraffe feedings, animal encounters, keeper chats and kayaking.
If you’re planning one of these experiences, I’d want to know about it when building your photography timeline.
You don’t want to squeeze an animal encounter into a packed schedule and end up feeling rushed through everything else.
Instead, I’d build the experience into the day intentionally so you can enjoy it with your guests and still have time for portraits.
If I were photographing a Brevard Zoo wedding, I’d want to plan time for:
Getting-ready photos
The ceremony
Family and wedding party portraits
Couple portraits around the zoo
Any planned animal experiences
Reception details
Candid moments with your guests
I’d also want to leave a little breathing room in the timeline.
A wedding at the zoo isn’t something your guests experience every weekend, so I’d want the photography timeline to leave room for everyone to actually enjoy it.
If you’re considering Brevard Zoo, check the official Brevard Zoo event page for current venue options, capacities and event details.
And if you’re planning a wedding in Melbourne, Merritt Island or anywhere on the Space Coast, I’d love to photograph it.
